About National Informatics Center

The National Informatics Centre is under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, while the Department of Science and Technology functions as a major department under the Central Government.

The National Informatics Centre is an organization under the Central Government that provides assistance in networking and e-governance to the Central Government, State Governments, Union Territory administrations, districts, and other government agencies.
With its nationwide network, NIC supports decentralized planning, improvement of government services, and both national and local government transparency. It also offers a wide range of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) services.
The National Informatics Centre implements Information and Communication Technology (ICT) projects in close collaboration with both the Central and State Governments. It ensures that the latest ICT tools and technologies are accessible to users in the government sector. NIC is one of the key providers of ICT services that support the functioning and efficiency of government operations.
